For those who may not know our story, we will give a brief summary: Feeling a nudging towards international adoption, we started the process in May of 2006. At that time we submitted the paperwork for a baby from China. In the summer of 2007, Sheri saw an ad on our agency's (AWAA) website asking for assistance with a summer "camp" to help older children get paper-ready for adoption. Without hesitation, our family volunteered to go. Within three weeks, we (Mike, Sheri, Sean, and Ryan) found ourselves in Beijing. We had the opportunity of a lifetime, and our hearts were changed forever. For unexplained reasons, we were not able to complete the adoption of a ten year old girl that we met at the camp, but she will always be part of us. But God did open our hearts for adopting an older child and gave us the confidence to do something that we did not think possible for our family. The doors opened and here came Sara.
Please pray for us as we do have a lot of fears about adopting a ten year old and that fact that she is a GIRL! And especially pray for Sara (her Chinese name is Hu Jia) as she must be terrified to come home with us. Please pray that her heart will be opened to being adopted by us and ready to love us. Pray that she will bond quickly with the boys and for a smooth initial transition.
We are still waiting on our last piece of paperwork to arrive in order to know our official travel dates. Right now we are hoping to travel in early Oct.
